GHR Practitioners at the Accredited Voluntary Register Conference

On 20th March this year, a number of GHR practitioners who are registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) attended a conference held for Accredited Voluntary Registers (AVRs). The event was organised by the accrediting body, the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA), set up under the Health & Social Care Act 2012, and was the first of its kind, bringing together AVRs to share good practice.

GHR members Mo Ferrington, Jane Giddings, John Hutchings and James Stobbart attended the conference as representatives of CNHC’s Local Champions who raise awareness of CNHC and professional standards around the UK.

Mo Ferrington commented: “I met some very interesting people and it was fascinating to see the AVRs’ ideas as to a way forward.”

Jane Giddings agreed saying: “It was great to have the chance to attend and meet other CNHC registrants plus CNHC’s Board members. This focus on standards is so important – especially for the types of clients I work with who are some of the most vulnerable and need to know they can trust us as practitioners.”

The day was chaired by Professional Standards Authority Chair, Baroness Jill Pitkealthley. The PSA’s Chief Executive, Harry Cayton, described how the scheme is developing from PSA’s perspective and sought the views of those attending about how it could be taken forward. Other speakers included Dean Royles, Chief Executive of NHS Employers, Dan Moore from the Office of Fair Trading and Dr Katherine Rake, Chief Executive of Healthwatch England.

For further information about what CNHC’s AVR accreditation means for registrants and the public, you can see details on CNHC’s website here: CNHC’s Accredited Voluntary Register

(Ed The GHR is a designated Verifying Organisation (VO) within the CNHC and all GHR members registered at Practitioner status or above are eligible for fast track registration within it. For further details about CNHC registration you may view their latest leaflet from here: CNHC Registration – What’s in it for you? )

“Parts Therapy But Not As You Know It” – an invitation to training schools and providers

Dr. Brian Roet was a G.P and Hypnotherapist in Australia before moving to London 30 years ago. He has been practising hypnotherapy for 40 years and attended courses by many people in the process – including Milton Erickson and David Grove (the founder of Clean Language). He has himself written a number of acknowledged books on hypnosis and related subjects. Over the last few years he has been running workshops on his unique form of Parts Therapy. His course teaches and demonstrates how we can easily improve many of the symptoms our clients seek help for.

Dr.Roet teaches students a number of ways to explore the unconscious – “The Inner World” of the mind – and use hypnotic techniques to discover symbols and metaphors residing there. These symbols and metaphors are presented as the cause of many symptoms, and that by changing them we modify and improve upon the client’s problems. His discussions, demonstrations and handouts provide a basis to add these new techniques to your students’ future practices, and to help them understand how problems occur due to internal messages of the mind becoming out of date and therefore no longer relevant.

The methods Dr. Roet teaches are simple to understand and claimed to achieve a rapid response from the client. Many changes are cited as occurring during the therapy session itself.

If you are interested in him teaching his methods to the students of your school, please contact him directly at: docroet@hotmail.com / 020 8780 2284 / www.docroetsworkshops.co.uk
